Product description & specifications

Crude Red Cooking Palm Kernel Oil — Wholesale Supply

We produce and supply crude red palm oil and crude palm kernel oil on a wholesale basis, serving bulk buyers, distributors and processors. Orders are arranged according to the required oil type, processing grade, intended use and agreed purchase specifications.

Red palm oil and palm kernel oil are separate products. Palm oil comes from the fleshy outer portion of the oil-palm fruit, while palm kernel oil comes from its kernel. They should therefore be identified and specified separately rather than marketed as a single “red palm kernel oil” product.

Wholesale Supply of Crude Red Palm Oil and Palm Kernel Oil

Our crude red palm oil offering is intended for buyers seeking unbleached palm oil, with the grade and suitability for the intended application confirmed before purchase.

The following reference specifications help identify and assess unbleached palm oil:

Iodine value: 50.0–55.0 g iodine per 100 g oil.

Saponification value: 190–209 mg KOH/g oil.

Relative density: 0.891–0.899 at 50°C, relative to water at 20°C.

Refractive index: 1.454–1.456 at 50°C.

Unsaponifiable matter: maximum 1.2%.

Palmitic acid: 39.3–47.5% of total fatty acids.

Oleic acid: 36–44% of total fatty acids.

Total carotenoids: reference range of 500–2,000 mg/kg for unbleached palm oil.

Crude Palm Kernel Oil We also supply crude palm kernel oil as a separate wholesale product, with purchase specifications agreed according to the buyer’s processing needs and intended application.

Reference specifications include:

Iodine value: 14.1–21.0 g iodine per 100 g oil.

Saponification value: 230–254 mg KOH/g oil.

Relative density: 0.899–0.914 at 40°C, relative to water at 20°C.

Refractive index: 1.448–1.452 at 40°C.

Unsaponifiable matter: maximum 1.0%.

Lauric acid: 45–55% of total fatty acids.

Myristic acid: 14–18% of total fatty acids.

The carotenoid reference range for unbleached red palm oil does not apply to palm kernel oil.

Production Grade and Cooking Suitability Our supply descriptions distinguish between crude oil intended for further processing and oil offered for human consumption. The term “crude” alone is not a confirmation that an oil is ready for direct cooking. The cited Codex standard covers named vegetable oils presented in a state for human consumption.

For edible virgin or unrefined grades, the cited Codex appendix provides the following voluntary commercial quality benchmarks:

Odour and taste: characteristic of the named oil and free from foreign or rancid odour and taste.

Matter volatile at 105°C: maximum 0.20% by mass.

Insoluble impurities: maximum 0.05% by mass.

Acid value for virgin palm oil: maximum 10 mg KOH/g oil.

Acid value for other virgin or cold-pressed oils: maximum 4 mg KOH/g oil.

Peroxide value for virgin or cold-pressed oils: up to 15 milliequivalents of active oxygen per kilogram of oil.
